What is one thing I can do to build more trust on my website?

2/11/2019

A:  Increase quality of images!  If you want people to take you seriously, then you cannot shortcut this.  Let me illustrate:

Since A looks like it just got dragged through the mud then photographed with a Blackberry, I'm going with B!

To put it simple...professional websites hire professional photographers.  I can guarantee you are losing opportunities or product sales, simply because you are not showcasing your business in a positive light.

Get in touch with us and we will take a closer look at the imagery on your website!

Is your website fast enough?

2/1/2019

Does your website load in three seconds or less on desktop, tablet AND mobile?
In today's day and age, speed is king.  Your website is no different.  It’s gotta be speedy. According to
information from Kissmetrics, 47 percent of consumers expect a web page to load in two seconds or less, and 40 percent of people abandon a website that takes more than three seconds to load.

What are the culprits that cause a slow website?
Site speed killers include...
  • Excessively large images (don't be fooled, check file sizes not dimensions)
  • Inefficient coding
  • Too many external calls to applications and scripts not located on your server (talking to you, Wordpress)
  • Slow loading website platforms
  • Insufficient bandwidth

Many times it's the combination of these culprits that bring your website to a screeching halt for your visitors.  Website design and development is an art form full of tradeoffs in function, visuals, and performance.  It is your web designer's responsibility to guide you through this process and help you understand the pros and cons of each component of your site.

Your website is the lifeblood of your online presence.  It is your digital storefront either screaming at people to come in or run for the hills!  Don't leave this to chance and send potential customers next door to your faster and sleeker competition.

With that said, here's a great tool to test the speed of your website...https://tools.pingdom.com/

Take the test and if your website takes over 3 seconds to load, schedule a time to review below...

Why you need a secure (SSL) website right now — avoid the Chrome ‘Not Secure’ warning

1/28/2019

When the next version of Google Chrome launches this month it’ll have a whole new look if you don’t have a secure website.  Not just a small change, I'm talking a giant "Not Secure" warning next to your domain name up top!

How does this look to your potential customers...

So what is a secure website?
Simply put, it has a trusted SSL certificate.  Many of you have likely heard or seen this term but not quite understood what it meant.

Here is the definition of an SSL certificate:

SSL Certificates are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization’s details. When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser. Typically, SSL is used to secure credit card transactions, data transfer and logins, and more recently is becoming the norm when securing browsing of social media sites.

The last line is the most important.  In layman's terms it ensures that all personal of a user is secure when they are accessing your site.  In the past this was required for ecommerce sites, however, Google is now penalizing those who don't have one purchased and integrated.  Going forward Google will not only put that giant Not Secure next to your name, you will also be penalized in search results!

So what to do?

Many hosting providers such as GoDaddy or Bluehost can walk you through this but they are likely to sell you on a whole array of services that you don't need.  In fact I can bet that many of you reading this are already overpaying for services that you are not using.  Lucky for you,  we are currently offering a free assessment of your current Hosting plan along with no cost to integrate an SSL Certificate  on commercial hosting platforms (ie. GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator).
